Treatment Planning 2020 & Beyond: The Role of Science and Modern Technologies
Dr. Maurice Salama
What, Where and When?… Every aspect of traditional treatment planning protocols continues to be reevaluated and updated to better incorporate the benefits of osseointegration and regenerative therapy into clinical practice. This is particularly necessary as we endeavor to optimally integrate these therapeutic modalities into the more challenging environments of the complex partially edentulous patient. This presentation develops and outlines a comprehensive and systematic treatment planning blueprint for the whole reconstructive team. New and innovative hard and soft tissue regenerative techniques will be introduced and incorporated to more predictably achieve maintainable osseous, gingival, biomechanical and esthetic outcomes.
This program will address the following evolving issues:
Objectives:
1) Which risk factors in anterior implant therapy are most critical?
2) What are the three most important diagnostic components leading to a successful treatment design for an esthetic implant restoration?
3) How and when to successfully incorporate minimally invasive protocols?
4) The complexities of when to Extract or Save a Tooth?
5) How do new 3D CT Digital Simulation and CAD/CAM technology optimize Full Arch Guided immediate functional implant therapy?
Dr. Maurice A. Salama completed his undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1985, where he received his BS in Biology. Title: Prosthetic guided implantology -can it be predictable?
Associated Professor, Department of Prosthetic Dentistry Faculty of Dentistry, Sofia Bulgaria
The lecture will go through a different treatment planning protocol-a new way of digital planning and incorporating a psychology-based teeth design. A full digital protocol will be presented with a new biological concept of for creating a stabile emergence profile.
Based on the planning, there are different treatment options, including immediate placement and immediate loading. How predictable the different protocols are, what are the positives and negatives of the digital planning, based on our clinical experience. Can we trust 100% the contemporary digital imaging systems, optical scanners? How predictable is the prosthetic guided implantology and where are the limits? Did the individual CAD CAM abutments give us some advantages?
The lecture will try to answer on some of these questions and show how the digital tools changed our thinking in the recent years.

“New clinical protocols for the treatment of severely atrophic posterior areas with minimally invasive procedure and shorten treatment time“.
Current trends in implant dentistry lead to the search for esthetics, minimal-invasiveness and short treatment time.
In this lecture new techniques that allow the dentist to achieve these 3 objectives with simple procedures and high predictability maintaining a success rate equal to standard staged approach will be described.
complex cases that were in the most recent past treated with invasive procedures and long treatment time can be solved today with simple straight forward techniques and high implant survival rate.
New protocols, practical tips and preliminary data of clinical studies will be given and analyzed with the aim to give to the participants the knowledge and tools to improve the ergonomic of their daily practice.
